Full description

This is one of the most memorable ways to see the Algarve coast: a classic sailing ship with a pirate crew, leaving from the riverside in Portimão and heading east along the cliffs to Benagil.

On the way you pass the fishing village of Ferragudo, the lighthouse at Ponta do Altar and a string of hidden beaches and grottos. At Benagil the ship stops near the caves, and when the sea is calm, guests can ride in a smaller boat to see the caves up close.

Morning departures run all year. Afternoon cruises run until 30 November (not on Thursdays), and sunrise and sunset cruises run in summer.

Does the ship go inside Benagil cave?

The ship stops outside the caves. When the sea is calm, a small boat takes guests closer into the caves.

When does it run?

Morning cruises at 11:30 all year and afternoon cruises at 14:30 until 30 November, except Thursdays. Sunrise and sunset cruises run in summer.
